Maryellen Brimecombe Thompson, 67, loving wife of Howard Gary Thompson, passed away on Thursday, February 12, 2026, after a long, courageous health battle. Born in South Portland, ME, she was a daughter of the late Dana Brimecombe and the late Elaine Tracy Brimecombe.
She was a cherished soul whose spirit radiated warmth and kindness who lived a life richly filled with love, laughter, and an unyielding passion for the things she cherished most.
A devoted member of the Seminole State College community, Maryellen retired from her role as Department Secretary, where her organizational skills and smart demeanor made her a valued associate. An exceptional young woman, Maryellen graduated with high honors from her high school, a reflection of her intelligence and determination. These qualities carried through her life, seen in her immaculate home, which often showcased her collection of pretty things, particularly her treasured angels. Each piece was not just an object but a story, a snippet of her journey that she shared with those fortunate enough to visit her.

She had a heart that knew no bounds; never did a stray cat cross her path without being welcomed into her home. An avid fan of New England sports, Maryellen found joy in cheering for her teams and reveling in the camaraderie that sports often bring. She found solace in the ocean, beautiful beaches and the iconic lighthouses that dotted the coast. These elements of nature were her sanctuary, places where her spirit found peace and inspiration.
Maryellen also loved simple pleasures, like watching the iconic show "Friends," finding comfort in the laughter and lightheartedness the series offered. Driving her beloved Pontiac, whom she affectionately named "Goldie," brought her immense joy and served as a reminder of the freedom and adventure she cherished in life. She enjoyed cooking delicious meals like every one prepared was as special as Thanksgiving.
Along with her parents, she is preceded in death by sister, Susan Connolly and brother Gary Brimecombe.
