Matibel Pettus Hammersla, 89, of Emeritus of Greenville, formerly of Pine Ridge Drive, wife of the late Robert Lee Hammersla, Sr., passed away Saturday, December 17, 2011.

Born in Ozark, AL, the daughter of the late Selmer and Dewie Snellgrove Pettus, Mrs. Hammersla had been an associate with her husband in the real estate business in Jacksonville, FL she was a member of First Baptist Church, Easley, where she was active in the Philathea Sunday School Class having served as President for two years. She was also active in the Pam Smith Group of the WMU and served as a volunteer at Baptist Easley Hospital through her church group.

Surviving are a son, Robert L. Hammersla, Jr., and wife, Debbie, of Greenville; a grandson, Robert L. Hammersla, III, and wife, Lisa; a granddaughter, Kristen Hammersla Wallace and husband, Kevin; and five great-grandchildren, Janie, Bo and Ella Hammersla and Kaileigh and Kaden Wallace. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hammersla was predeceased by a brother, Lex Pettus.

Memorial services will be 2:00 PM Wednesday in the chapel of First Baptist Church, Easley with Rev. Dr. John Adams officiating.

The family will receive friends in the chapel narthex immediately following the service.
