Rose Maureen Collins Klugh Simpson, 86 years old and widow of Representative Edward W. Simpson, Jr., died Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at her residence.

Born in Roswell, NM, she was the daughter of James Jefferson and Elsie Davis Collins.


Mrs. Simpson was the office manager for Dr. William Hunter for over 40 years, a member of the Clemson Garden Club, the Foothills Alumnae Chapter of Zeta Tau Alpha sorority, and the Clemson United Methodist Church. She had a passion for politics and avidly supported her husband, Ed Simpson through his campaigns and years in office.

Surviving are three sons, Thomas S. (Tommy) Klugh Jr., James Williston (Bill) Klugh both of Clemson and Eward W. (Whit) Simpson of Nashville, TN; one daughter, Barbara Anna (Bobbi) Simpson of Point Reyes Station, CA; and a nephew, Rev. John Warren Clark of Crowley, LA.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceeded in death by her first husband, Thomas S. Klugh; daughter, Elizabeth Weston (Bette)Simpson; and a granddaughter, Terra Klugh Bates.

Memorial services will be held at a later date and will be announced by Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central, SC.

The family respectfully requests that flowers be omitted and memorials be made to the Animal Rescue Fund of SC, 10445 Clemson Blvd., Seneca, SC 29678.
