Mavis Collins Sams, 73, of 942 Pope Field Road and widow of the late Austin Jack Sams, died Thursday, October 12, 2006 at her residence.

Born in Elizabethton, TN, she was a daughter of the late Corbin and Pearl Campbell Collins. She was a retired employee of Alice Manufacturing and a member of Cove Creek Baptist Church.

Surviving are three sons, Carlos R. Sams and wife Debbie of Marietta, Martin L. Sams and wife Cathy of Willis, TX; a daughter, Jackie Aiken and husband Donnie of Williamston; four sisters, Zella K. Dugger of Elizabethton, TN, Nancy A. Bradley of Kingsport, TN, Jewell L. Collins of Easley, Mildred L. Rieter of Lexington, KY; 10 grandchildren; and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a son, Armond R. Sams; six brothers; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Sunday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Downtown with Reverend Gordon Hager officiating. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Saturday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
