Melvin E. Brooks

Melvin Eugene Brooks, 81, of Central went to be with his Lord and Savior, Saturday, March 3, 2012 at his home with his wife and loving pet "Precious" and many family members.
He was born in Cateechee, SC, the son of the late Joseph Henry and Leila Collins Brooks. Melvin was a remarkable man who married his wife Mildred in 1950 and shared 61 years together. He was a retired employee with Pleasant Hardware in Greenville, was a US Air Force veteran and was a Past Master and served as Grand Deputy of the Central Lodge #229 AFM. He also attended Trinity Wesleyan Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife are a brother, Charles W. (Judy) Brooks of Ocoee, FL; sisters, Lois Angeline Tate of Gastonia, NC, Bobbie Grace (Milton) Kelley of Central, Jo Anne (Irby) Pelfrey of Norris, SC, Leona (Doc) Bradham of Seneca; half-sisters, Donna Mosey of Lilburn, GA and Janet Angel of Dallas, NC; "special grandchildren", Briana Barrett, Brooke and Trey Cantrell; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by brothers Heywood Maxell Brooks and Earle Matthew Brooks.
Funeral services will be 3 PM, Wednesday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home with Revs. Jim Wiggins and Don Milstead officiating. Entombment will follow in Memory Gardens.
The family will receive friends prior to the service starting at 1:30 PM.
