Melvin Richard “Mutt” Howard, 70, of Pineview Drive, passed away Tuesday, May 17, 2016 at his home.


Born in Pickens County, he was the son of the late Lee Roy “Red” Howard and Mamie Dodson Howard. He was a graduate of Easley High School


Mr. Howard was employed with Alice Manufacturing for 26 years and was formerly employed with Mt. Vernon Mills, Cryovac and Advanced Auto. He was a member of Fairview Baptist Church in Pickens where he was active in the youth group and was a camp counselor at McCall's R.A. Camp. He enjoyed bowling and playing softball with the mill teams, was and avid Clemson Tigers fan and was a US Army Veteran of the Vietnam War.


Surviving are his wife of 38 years, Wanda Stewart Howard; sons, Ricky Howard (Jamie) of Greer and Steve Howard (Tracey) of Easley; step sons, Chris Mason of Wrightsville, GA and Sam Mason of Easley; grandchildren, Eric Mason, Amy Smith, John Floyd Mason, Zachary Howard, Kaitlyn Howard, Rebekah Howard and Cole Howard; great grandchildren, Blaine Mason, Regan Smith and Karissa Smith; and a sister, Nell Jean Burns of Gray Court.


In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by a sister, Linda Beane and brothers, Harold, Clarence and Clyde Howard.


Funeral services will be held on Friday, May 20, 2016 at 12:00 PM in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with burial to follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.


The family will receive friends prior to the service on Friday from 10:00 AM until 11:45 AM at the funeral home.


In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fairview Baptist Church, 130 Fairview Drive, Pickens, SC 29671.


The family will be at the home.
