Michael Childress, 68, of Piedmont, passed away on June 20, 2024. His kindness and zest for life will be remembered forever by those who had the privilege of knowing him.
Mike devoted an impressive 47 years of his life to serving at the Greenville County Landfill. While his dedication to his work was evident, if you were to ask his coworkers about his biggest moment, they would say he would be most remembered for a heartwarming act of bravery - rescuing a kitten from peril at the landfill.
Described as someone who could brighten even the darkest room, Mike had a remarkable ability to make even the dullest subject interesting. To meet Mike was to love him, and he would love you back. It was no surprise that he had a wide circle of friends who adored him.
Beyond his work and social circles, Mike had a deep passion for hot rods and motorcycles. His love for unique tattoos and unique art adorned his bachelor pad, reflecting his vibrant spirit and appreciation for creativity. Music held a special place in his heart, further showcasing his diverse interests and lively nature.
Mike leaves behind his parents, Bill and Jean Childress of Greenville, SC, as well as his sister, Jodie Connis (David) of Pelzer, SC. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Bentley and Eddie, and many special friends he loved dearly.
A memorial service to celebrate Mike's life will be held on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 2:00 PM, at the Glen Vista Mausoleum at Robinson Memorial Gardens in Easley, SC. The family would like to invite Mike’s friends to drive up in their hot rods, classic cars, and motorcycles for one last drive-in for Mike.
