Michael Austin Hester

Michael Austin Hester, 68, of Kannapolis, NC, passed Friday, December 18, 2015 at Carolinas HealthCare System Northeast, Concord, NC.

Michael was born August 22, 1947 in Greenville, SC to the late Ollie Austin Hester and Lucille Landreth Hatton, and was the fiancé to the love of his life Sandra Lee Medford.

He was a US Marine Corps veteran, serving from 1966 to 1970, where he earned the rank of Lance Corporal while stationed at Camp Lejeune.

Michael worked in management for Clegg's Pest Control for 15 years.   He was a member of the Wade Hampton Masonic Lodge #404 in Greenville as well as a member of the Hejaz Shriners in Greenville.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his elder son, Michael Patrick Hester.

Michael is survived by his younger son, Rev. C. Todd Hester (Alison) of Virginia; sister, Debbie Lynn Yeager of Powdersville; brother, Mark Edward Hatton of Greenville; granddaughters, Kathleen Marie Hester and Madeline Grace Hester; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A Memorial Service will be held Sunday, December 27th at 3:00 PM at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley, SC 29642 with Rev. C. Todd Hester officiating his father’s service. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service in the funeral home.

Family has requested donations be made directly to Carolinas Healthcare System NorthEast Foundation, 920 Church Street North, Concord, NC 28025, the Shriner's burn hospital, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605, and the Marine Toys for Tots Foundation, 18251 Quantico Gateway Drive, Triangle, VA 22172.
