Michael McMillan

Michael McMillan, 83, of 9 Club Pointe, Taylors, husband of Mary Russell McMillan, passed away Sunday, December 2, 2012 at Shepherd�??s Care Center.
Born December 11, 1928 in Sumter, he was a son of the late Joseph P. McMillan, Sr. and the late Lois Glasgow McMillan Haynie. Mr. McMillan graduated from Greenville High School in 1946 and served in the 82nd Airborne Division. He attended the University of Florida and graduated from Clemson University with a B.S. degree in Architecture in 1953, where he was first runner-up in the worldwide "Lloyd Warren Paris Prize" design competition.
After receiving his license in 1957, Mr. McMillan practiced in his own office until his retirement. Among his designs, were numerous public schools and automotive facilities, the Greenville City Hall and Plaza, and he served as an associate in the design of the Downtown Hyatt Regency and Commons.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his sons, Mike McMillan (Candace) of Greer, Kevin McMillan of California and Sean McMillan of Taylors; grandchildren, Tayler McMillan, Ian McMillan, Malcolm McMillan and Cameron McMillan.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his infant son, Collin McMillan; brothers, William McMillan and Joseph McMillan, Jr.
Services will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Meyer Center for Special Children, 1132 Rutherford Road, Greenville, SC 29609.
