Peter Michael Morton, 65, of 316 Rochford Drive, died Friday, May 7, 2010, at his home.

Born in St. Louis, Missouri, Mr. Morton was a son of the late Peter Charles and Rosemary Black Morton. He received his B.S. in Marketing from Southern Illinois University.

Surviving are his beloved wife of forty-three years, Betty Layton Morton, of the home; one daughter, Lisa Marie Montgomery (Jayden), of Oak Ridge, N.C.; two sons, Michael Christopher Morton (Amanda) of Liberty and Todd Andrew Morton (Michelle) of Cornelius, N.C.; brother, Terry Morton of Kansas City, Missouri; four sisters, Colleen Roberts, of Edgerton, Missouri, Mary Ellen Fisher of Liberty, Missouri, Karen Carnie and Cheryl Roberts, both of Kansas City, Missouri; and four grandchildren, Christopher Michael Morton, Ashton Andrews, Austin Andrews, and Audrey Andrews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Morton was predeceased by an infant daughter, Laurie Ann Morton.

After thirty-seven years of employment, Mr. Morton retired as store manager from J.C. Penney. He was a member of St. Luke's Catholic Church and a former member of Easley Rotary Club. Also, Mr. Morton was a former member of the Board of Directors for Pickens County United Way, Baptist Easley Hospital Foundation, and Goodwill Industries in Greenville. He volunteered with Meals on Wheels, and he was very active in children's reading programs. Mr. Morton served in the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers from February 1968 to November 1970.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Monday at St. Luke's Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Robinson Memorial Gardens, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley.

Recitation of the Rosary will be 5:30 PM Sunday at Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road followed by a Eulogy Service at 6:00 PM. The family will receive friends immediately following the Eulogy Service.
