Michael Larry Owens, 58, of Gaston, South Carolina, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, February 20, 2026.
Born on September 26, 1967, in Greenville, South Carolina, he was a son of Larry Ronald Owens and Doris Knight Morgan. He not only mastered the art of mechanics as an ASE Certified Mechanic at ProCar Automotive in Red Bank, South Carolina, but he also had an unparalleled talent for bringing joy into every room he entered. Michael was a loving father, son, grandfather, and brother, with a smile that seemed permanently affixed to his face, he could make anyone laugh, no matter the situation. Friends often joked that the party didn’t really get started until he showed up—like a surprise ingredient that turns a good recipe into something unforgettable. He was adept at dropping toy Barbies for a quick garage fix, proving his versatility wasn’t just reserved for wrenches and socket sets. He also took a detour through life that saw him graduate from the Miracle Hill Overcomers Program, a journey that inspired him to stay on and mentor others who were navigating their own twists and turns. Michael was devoted to his family, pouring love and care into raising Kalista Brailee McCarter and Alaira Atkinson as if they were his own daughters. Whether he was under a car, surrounded by his little girls in a game of make-believe, or lighting up a room with his infectious laughter, Michael lived life with a spirit that will be deeply missed. His ability to shift from fixing engines to making doll houses work perfectly mirrored the heart he had—a heart that brought everyone together like a well-aligned drive shaft.
In addition to his parents, Michael is survived by his daughter, Kimberly Sullivan (Ryan); two bonus daughters, Kalista Brailee McCarter, and Alaira Atkinson; four grandchildren, Tyler James McCall, Kynleigh Ruth Sullivan, Robert Grayson Sullivan, and Walker Layne Sullivan; a bonus father, Ronald Morgan; a bonus brother, Gregory A. Morgan; and two bonus sisters, Sabrina Neibel and Jennifer M. Fields (Keith).
The family will receive friends from 11:30 AM until 12:45 PM on Monday, March 2, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. A funeral service will follow at 1:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel.
Flowers will be accepted, or memorials may be made to the Miracle Hill Overcomers Program, 1916 N. Pleasantburg Drive, #4036, Greenville, South Carolina 29609.
