Michael Lane Sweeney, 69, of 998 Nine Times Road and husband of Mamie Young Sweeney, died Thursday, August 28, 2008 at Cannon Memorial Hospital.
Born in Tyler, Texas, a son of the late Louis J. and Dorris Lewis Sweeney, he was a retired civil engineer with Flour Daniel. He was a graduate of Clemson University, a Mason and a Shriner and a member of Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church where he was a substitute Sunday School teacher, and a veteran of the US Marine Corps.
Surviving in addition to his wife are: a son, Michael P. Sweeney of Fort Worth, TX; two daughters, Valinda Sargent and Romona Sweeney both of Columbia; two sisters, Carolyn Sweeney Eck of Calico Rock, AK, LaVerne Sweeney of Marietta, GA; 5 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 PM, Sunday at Mt. Bethel United Methodist Church with Rev. Don Alexander officiating.
Visitation will be from 1 to 2 PM, Sunday, prior to the service at the church.
