Michael Dennis Whisnant, 73, of Stone Meadow Way, passed away Friday, November 27, 2020.
Born April 24, 1947 in Shelby, NC, he was a son of the late Marvin and Ruth Kathleen McSwain Whisnant.
Mr. Whisnant was a graduate of Marion High School. He retired from Duke Power, at the Oconee Nuclear Station after 31 years of dedicated service where he was a trainer/instructor and member of the Emergency Rapid Response team. Following retirement, he began working with HPC Technologies in Sarasota FL as a trainer/instructor. He was an active member of Brushy Creek Baptist Church and served in the media ministry and proudly served his country in the US Navy from 1965 until 1969.
Surviving are his wife of 50 years, Betty Elayne Liles Whisnant; sons, David Marvin Whisnant and his wife, Brandy, and Jonathan Michael Whisnant all of Easley; grandson, Brandon Michael Whisnant; step grandchildren, Samantha Huggins, Jordan Huggins, Matthew Briggs and Evan Chappell; brothers, Mitchell Marvin Whisnant and his wife, Vickie, of Kingsport, TN and Nathan Andrew Whisnant and his wife, Tammy, of Owensboro, KY; and sisters, Patricia Diane Whisnant Delano and her husband, Jim, of Azle, TX and Helen Louise Whisnant Hall and her husband, Gene, of Haubstadt, IN; and eight nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be 3:00 PM Thursday, December 3, 2020 at M.J. "Dolly" Cooper Veterans Cemetery in Anderson. Scroll to the video player below to view the service.
The family will receive friends Wednesday evening from 6:00 PM until 7:30 PM at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
