Alice “Mickey” Gresham Erwin, age 85 of 22 Partridge Lane, passed away Wednesday, October 12, 2016 at her home.
Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Carl E. and Virgil Sellars Gresham.
Mickey attended Taylors Elementary, Greer High School and Furman University and lived in Greenville for the past 64 years. She was married to Wm. Dave Erwin for 61 years, and was devoted to her family and her pets. She loved to read and enjoyed her home. She worked as a secretary in her early career, and was a bookstore clerk (Carolina Book Rack) for 35 years.
Mickey was a member of First Presbyterian Church and a faithful member of the Fellowship Sunday School Class.
Survivors include her husband; sons, Wm. David Erwin, Jr. and Pat M. Erwin and wife, Karen Ellison Erwin; and five grandchildren, Catherine Erwin, Mary Dallas Erwin, Ryan Erwin, Lydia Erwin and Marcus Erwin.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister, Barbara Gresham Cutts.
A service to celebrate Mickey's life will be held on Friday, October 14, 2016 at 12:30 PM in the Harper Chapel of First Presbyterian Church, Greenville.
The family will greet friends and family prior to the service from 11:30 AM until 12:30 PM in the church parlor.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Greenville Humane Society, 328 Furman Hall Road, Greenville, SC 29609, Greenville Literacy Association, 225 S. Pleasantburg Drive, Greenville, SC 29605 or First Presbyterian Church, 200 W. Washington Street, Greenville, SC 29601.
The family would like to thank her caregiver, Gwen Propes and Open Arms Hospice for the exceptional care given to Mickey.
