Mickla Mortenson, 70, of 11 Blue Ridge Drive, passed away Saturday, January 9, 2010 at Hospice House of Anderson.

Born in San Diego, California, she was the daughter of Bess Holcombe Moon, of Liberty and the late Mickler Moon. She will be remembered for her loving service of caring for many people, her intelligence and quick wit. She attended Winthrop College, was an avid reader and loved classical music. She was an outstanding artist and taught special education classes and helped organize the special olympics in her former home state of Texas. She had a beautiful singing voice and was a member of Houston's Symphony Chorus. She was a member of Liberty First Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for many years. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and Board member of "Friends of the Library".

Surviving in addition to her mother are sons, Matthew Benjamin, of Liberty and Barry Benjamin, of Asheville, NC ; a sister, Beth Mahaffey, of Decatur, Georgia.

Funeral Services will be 2:00 PM Tuesday in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road with the Reverend Bill Hightower and the Reverend John Littleton officiating.

Entombment will follow in the Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum at Robinson Memorial Gardens.

Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 2:00 Tuesday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.

The family is at the home.

Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels or Friends of the Library in Liberty.
