Mildred Ross Poole, 96, of Easley, South Carolina, wife of the late James Russell Poole, passed away on Friday, August 30, 2024, at her home surrounded by family.
Born in Greenville County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Eugene and Kizzie Henson Ross. Mildred retired as a dedicated secretary from First Presbyterian Church in Greenville. Following her retirement, she continued to share her talents as a part-time secretary at Easley Presbyterian Church, where her presence enriched the lives of those around her. A gifted organist, Mildred played for over 47 years at various churches, filling sacred spaces with melodies that inspired and uplifted many. She was a proud graduate from Parker High School in Greenville. Known for her loving spirit and dry wit, Mildred had a unique ability to connect with others. Her humor brought joy and lightness to the lives of her loved ones, often leaving them laughing at her clever remarks. As a devoted mother and grandmother, she cherished every moment spent with her family, creating a warm and welcoming home defined by love, laughter, and countless memories. Outside of her professional and familial commitments, Mildred found solace and joy in the beauty of nature. Her love for flowers and gardening transformed her yard into a vibrant oasis, reflecting her nurturing spirit and appreciation for the simple joys of life.
She is survived by a son, Tom Poole (Anna); a granddaughter, Libby Poole; along with numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by a granddaughter, Meredith Poole; four brothers, Dacus Ross, Jesse Ross, Clyde Ross, and Charles Ross; and two sisters, Myrtle Young, and Frances Ross.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 3, 2024, from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM in the funeral home chapel. A private entombment will be held at Woodlawn Memorial Park.
