Mrs. Mildred Alexander Powell, 82, of Thistlewood Drive, wife of the late Cleo Newton Powell, passed away Sunday, January 29, 2017 at the McCall Hospice House in Simpsonville.

Born in Pickens County, she was a daughter of the late M.C Alexander and Jeanette Alexander Kelley.

Mrs. Powell was retired from Sangamo (Cornell Dubilier) and the Pickens County School District. She was a member of Blue Ridge View Baptist Church. She loved her Lord, family and working in her yard.

Surviving are her children, Randall Powell (Lynn) of Liberty, Glenn Powell (Karen) of Easley and daughter, Kathy Powell Wade (Donnie) of Easley; grandchildren, Nikki Wade, Josh Wade (Erin), Zachary Powell, Shannon Ellenburg and Ashley Smith (Travis); great-grandchildren, Kay, Adelynn, Kambree, and Nevaeh; sisters, Elizabeth Nix (Harrison) and Gail Bennett (Bobby) all of Easley, and Evelyn Bowie (Tojo) of Pickens; and brothers, Carlos Alexander (Ethylene) and Edward Alexander all of Easley, Calvin Alexander and Michael Alexander (Cheryl) all of Liberty.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Powell was predeceased by her brother, Matthew Alexander, and her step-father, Julius Kelley.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, February 1, 2017 at 10:00 AM at Blue Ridge View Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Tuesday evening from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.

Flowers will be accepted and memorials may be made to Roberta Stewart for Shut-In Ministry, c/o Blue Ridge View Baptist Church, 745 Wolf Creek Road, Pickens, SC 29671.

The family will be at Mrs. Mildred's home following the funeral service.
