Mildred Ann Gillespie Shirley, 77, formerly of Easley, wife of the late Walker T. Shirley, Jr., passed away Thursday February 23, 2012 at Valley Nursing Center in Taylorsville, NC.
Born in Pickens County, Mrs. Shirley was a daughter of the late Lonnie and Lessie "Ripp" Gore Gillespie. She retired from Reliable Sprinkler in Liberty, and was a member of the Eastern Star of the Liberty Chapter. She was of the Baptist Faith.
Surviving are a son, Talmadge Shirley, III, of Easley; five sisters, Sue Davis, Betty and Margaret Gillespie, Jean Bracewell and Hilda McCall; two brothers, Junior and Tommy Gillespie; two grandchildren, Jennifer Huff and Jessica Thompson.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Shirley was predeceased by two brothers, Bill and Joel Gillespie.
Funeral services will be 3:00 PM Sunday, February 26, 2012, in the Chapel of Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road. Burial will follow in Bishop Branch Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 1:00 PM until 3:00 PM Sunday, prior to the service, at the funeral home.
