Milford Earle Watson, 87, of Powdersville, South Carolina, loving husband of Pawnee Moore Watson, went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Friday, January 30, 2026.
Born on October 15, 1938, in Toccoa, Georgia, he was the son of the late Terrell and Gladys Lusk Watson. A proud graduate of Parker High School, class of 1956, Earle embarked on a distinguished career, serving as the Assistant Chief at the Greenville City Fire Department for over 35 years. His commitment to public service defined his professional life, earning him the respect and admiration of his peers and the community he tirelessly protected. Earle was not only a dedicated firefighter but also a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. His warmth and kindness touched the lives of those around him. In retirement, Earle and his beloved wife embraced the joys of travel. Together, they embarked on remarkable journeys that took them to every single state in the United States, exploring the diverse landscapes and cultures of their homeland. Their adventures extended beyond borders, leading them to every province in Canada, as well as enchanting destinations in Germany, Italy, Holland, Switzerland, and Ireland. Earle's spirit of exploration was further exemplified by the 33 cruises he enjoyed with his wife, creating cherished memories that would last a lifetime. A faithful member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, Earle found joy in serving others as an Usher and Greeter, sharing his infectious spirit with everyone he met. He was also a valued member of the Anchorage Sunday School Class, where he fostered connections that enriched his life and the lives of those around him.
In addition to his loving wife of 69 years, Earle is survived by a son, Michael E. Watson (Alyssa) of Lexington, South Carolina; a brother, Thomas H. Watson of Greenville, South Carolina; a sister, Myra Page, of Easley, South Carolina; three grandchildren, Annie Watson, Kelly Price (Gary); and David Watson (Jessica); one great-grandchild, Otto Price; and numerous nieces, nephews, and other extended family members.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a sister, Ruth Long.
The family will receive friends from 10:00 AM until 11:15 AM on Friday, February 6, 2026, at Robinson Funeral Home – Powdersville Road. The funeral service will follow at 11:30 AM in the funeral home chapel. Burial will follow the service in Greenville Memorial Gardens.
