Minne Lou Whitfield Walker, 89, of 210 Maryland Avenue, wife of the late Donald Walker, passed away Tuesday, February 12, 2013 in Mt. Pleasant.

Born in Gastonia, NC, a daughter of the late Cullen Edward and Grace Irene Simmons Whitfield, Mrs. Walker was formerly employed with the Pentagon and retired from Clemson University as a textile research technician. She was of the Church of God faith.

Surviving are a son, Zane Whitfield Gantt of Charleston; a daughter, Loraine Doucette of Palm Beach, FL; a sister, Annette Thomas of Knoxville, TN; five grandchildren, Catherine Cuellar and Jonathan and Christopher Gantt, all of Easley, Kevin Doucette of Boston MA, and Brian Doucette of Oswego, NY; twelve great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Walker was predeceased by a daughter, Jane Eaton, four brothers, Cullen, Willie, Melvin and John Whitfield; and one sister, Edna Jackson.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Saturday, February 16, 2013 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Graceland West Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 1:00 until 1:45 PM Saturday at the funeral home.
