Mollie Sue Payton Cope, 91, formerly of Central and widow of Hovie W. Cope, died Saturday morning at Lila Doyle Nursing Facility in Seneca, SC.
Born in Homer, GA, she was a daughter of the late Dover and Nancy Segars Payton. She was a retired employee with Sangamo Electric, was a member of the First Baptist Church of Central and attended Utica Baptist Church in Seneca.
Surviving are her daughter, Susan Cope Cox of Seneca; granddaughter, Lea C. (Jay) Holder; and great-grandson, Jackson Holder.
In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Cope was predeceased by her son, Harold Cope; brothers, Jack, John D., Norman and Weldon Payton; and sisters, Emma Bell, Sallie Mae Denton, Julia Ruth Mimms, Dollie Ausborn and Leila Bowden.
Funeral services will be 3 PM, Monday in the chapel of Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home, Central with Rev. Phil Kelley officiating. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens, Clemson.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 2:50 PM, Monday prior to the service at the funeral home.
Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to Utica Baptist Church, 4056 Wells Highway, Seneca, SC 29678.
