Monica was born in Wilmington, N.C., on November 20, 1922 to the late Ashley Jackson and Mary Louise Patten Jackson and baptized in the First Presbyterian Church in Wilmington. She grew up feeling the love of the church family and, by the age of ten, she knew she wanted to be a Director of Christian Education. She graduated from New Hanover High School in Wilmington and at the age of sixteen went to Flora MacDonald College for her bachelor??s degree, followed by the Presbyterian School of Christian Education where she received a master??s degree in Christian Education. She worked as the Director of Christian Education at First Presbyterian Church in Greenville, S.C. and, after her marriage, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

On moving to Clemson, S.C., in 1960, the family joined Fort Hill Presbyterian Church and Monica immediately became involved in the life of the church by teaching Sunday School and helping to manage the weekday kindergarten. Monica was ordained as an elder in 1973 and served the local church as well as being elected as a commissioner to the Presbyterian Church U.S. General Assembly. Over the years at Fort Hill, Monica was a member of numerous committees, including serving on three selection committees for Choir Director or Organist. In addition, she was a member of Circle #5 and served for many years on various church committees, including the Wedding Guild. She shared her musical talent willingly, singing in the chancel choir and in numerous weddings and funeral services. She touched so many hearts with her beautiful voice and love of music.
Monica was married for 61 years to William Henry Davis McGregor, who survives her.
