MSGT Ret. Johnie Lafe Gray, 82, of Easley, loving husband of Climelia "Cli" Black Gray, passed away Saturday, February 6, 2016 at his residence.


Johnie was born in Greene County, Arkansas on May 26, 1933 to the late Lafe and Flora Maple Gray. He served in the U.S. Army in the Korean Conflict from 1951 - 1952. After serving in the Army, he served 22 years in the U.S. Air Force, retiring in 1974 as a crew chief in aircraft maintenance. After his retirement, he was employed with the U.S. Postal Service and retired after 14 years in 1988. Johnie was a member of Flat Rock Baptist Church in Liberty.


In addition to his loving wife of 58 years, Johnie is survived by a son; Morris "Mo" Gray (Robbin) of Easley; three daughters; Charlotte Burgess (Mike) of Easley; Carol Gray of Asheville, NC; and Celeste Bowie (Steve) of Stokesdale, NC; a stepmother; Jeanette Gray of Sherwood, Arkansas; two sisters; Lola Fern Connor of Mariposa, California and Janie Gray Todd of Sherwood, Arkansas; and two brothers; Bob Gray of Booneville, Arkansas and James Gray of Cabot, Arkansas. Mr. Gray is also survived by four grandchildren and one great-grandchild.


The family will receive friends on Tuesday, February 9, 2016 from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM at Robinson Funeral Home - Powdersville Road, 1425 Powdersville Road, Easley SC. Funeral Services will follow at 2:00 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment with Military Honors will follow at Robinson Memorial Gardens.


The family is at the residence.


Flowers are optional, or the family requests that memorial donations be made to the Flat Rock Baptist Church Building Fund, 115 Slab Bridge Road, Liberty, SC 29657; or to the Disabled American Veterans, P.O. Box 14301, Cincinnati, OH, 45250-0301.
