Muriel Boyd Bishop, 89, and wife of Carl Barnes Bishop, passed away Sunday, May 20, 2018.
Mrs. Bishop was born in Billingsley, AL, a daughter of the late Joseph and Lelia Mae Taylor Boyd. She was a chemistry professor at Clemson University for many years. She also was a past president of the Clemson Lion's Club. She was active in her church, serving on various committees, choir, and teaching a ladies Sunday School class.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Bishop was predeceased by a brother, Bernard Boyd. She is survived by her husband of 59 years, Barnes; a daughter, Kathryn Bishop Setzer of Denver, NC; a brother, Harold Boyd and wife Peggy, of Rome, GA; two grandchildren, Zachary Randall Setzer and Shannon Kathryn Setzer; two step-grandchildren, Rhonda Nicole Blake and Joshua Edwin Setzer; one great grandchild, Avery Elizabeth Setzer; and six step-great grandchildren.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, May 26, 2018 at the First Baptist Church of Clemson. Friends are invited to visit with the family from 1:00 p.m. until 1:45 p.m., prior to the service.
