Almira "Myra" Miller Pettigrew, 86, of Easley, wife of the late James Lewis Pettigrew, passed away on Thursday, September 4, 2025. Born in Goshen N.Y., to the late John J. Francisco and the late Doris Krieger Francisco, she a vibrant spirit who touched the lives of everyone she met.
In addition to her husband and parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Arthur J. Miller and sister, Janice Cardoza.
Myra’s dedication extended beyond her family; she was an active member of Rock Springs Baptist Church, where she embraced her faith with an open heart. Serving as the president of the Willing Workers II Sunday School Class showcased her commitment not just to her spiritual growth but also to the community around her. Myra's impact was felt far and wide, as she engaged with those she taught and inspired to share in the joys of faith and friendship.
Myra was a devoted family matriarch who adored her family beyond measure. She was affectionately known as "Nanny" to her grandchildren and great-grandchildren, a title that reflects the love and warmth she poured into her family life. Her home was always a source of comfort and laughter, filled with her joyous spirit. With a remarkable sense of humor and an infectious laugh, Myra had the ability to bring joy to even the dullest of days. She enjoyed singing and playing the piano. Her musical talents not only entertained but also created cherished memories that will forever echo in the hearts of her loved ones.
She is survived by daughter, Deborah Williams (Tim); sons, Jack Miller (Penny) and John Pettigrew (Temple); five grandchildren, Kim Kelley (Joey), Eric Williams (Leah), Kristen Smith (John) and Drew Miller (Audrey), and Dylan Miller (Madeline); six great-grandchildren, Jenna, Jackson, Micah, Mallory, Maverick and Maddox, and sisters, Delores Brown and Arda Scarborough.
The family will receive friends on Monday, September 8, 2025 from 2:00 PM until 3:00 PM in the Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum in Robinson Memorial Gardens, Easley, SC. The funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM with entombment inside the Chapel of Reflection Mausoleum.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Myra's caregiver, Diane Bishop for her love and care during the past year and a half.
She leaves behind a legacy of humor, warmth, and musical joy that will continue to brighten the lives of her descendants. Myra was a remarkable woman who truly loved life, and her memory will forever be cherished by all who were fortunate to know her. As we celebrate her life, we remember the laughter she brought us, the songs she sang, and the love she stowed upon each of us. Her spirit will remain a guiding light in our hearts, forever shining brightly in our memories.
