Myrtle Cassell Hester, 72, of Liberty, wife of the late Robert Elbert Hester, Sr., passed away Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at McCall Hospice House.

Born in Pickens County, Mrs. Hester was a daughter of the late Earley Pinkney and Rebecca Gilstrap Cassell and a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church in Piedmont.

Surviving are two sons, Martin Whitaker, Jr., and Michael Whitaker; and a daughter, Rebecca Sargent; two step-sons, Robert E. Hester, Jr., and Harold Hester; three step-daughters, Paulette McAlister, Joan DeRossett and Jean Crook; a sister, Ruby Dell Simmons; fifteen grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and four great-great-grandchildren. In addition to her husband and parents, Mrs. Hester was predeceased by a son, Marcus Whitaker, four brothers, and two sisters.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM Friday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.

Visitation will be from 7:00 until 9:00 PM Thursday at the funeral home.
