Nancy Lee Culbertson

Nancy Lee Culbertson, 77, of Greenville, South Carolina, passed away on Monday, January 30, 2023.

Born February 16, 1945, in Greenville, Nancy was the daughter of her father, the late John Bolt Culbertson, and her mother, the late Mary Symmes Culbertson.  She graduated from Wade Hampton High School and Limestone College, and later obtained a Master’s in Education from Furman University. During her early career, she worked as a legal assistant in her father’s law firm, sold real estate, and taught school. Nancy then worked for many years and retired from the South Carolina Department of Social Services. After retirement, she volunteered faithfully with the Cancer Society of Greenville. Nancy was a long-time member of Saint Andrew’s Episcopal Church.  She will be fondly remembered and greatly missed for her sly sense of humor and her big smile.  

Nancy leaves behind three brothers, Patrick Culbertson, Symmes (Camille) Culbertson, and Manning Culbertson, as well as nieces and nephews Erin Culbertson (J.J. Andrighetti), Patrick (Wendy) Culbertson, Jr., Callie Culbertson, Symmes Culbertson, Jr., and Catherine Culbertson.  She is also survived by her sister-in-law, Myra Culbertson and a host of friends and troublemakers from her long tenure at Riverbend Condos.  

A memorial service is planned for Tuesday, February 7, 2023, at 4:00 p.m., at Saint Andrew’s (1002 S. Main St., Greenville, SC 29601), with a reception to follow.  In lieu of flowers, the family would be grateful for a donation to the charity of your choice in Nancy’s memory.
