Naomi Hamby Cox, 82, of 305 Hagood Street, died Sunday, October 28, 2007, at Palmetto Health Baptist Easley.

Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Samuel Benjamin and Minnie Melinda Cartee Hamby, Mrs. Cox retired from the Glenwood Plant of Mayfair Mills after forty-four years of service and was a lifelong member of Glenwood Baptist Church. She was the last survivor of her immediate family.

Surviving are her beloved dog, Paxton; a son, Benny R. Roper and wife, Pat, of Easley; two daughters, Sandra Roper of the home, and Patti Faulkner Messervy and husband, Eddie, of Greenville; five grandchildren, Sean Faulkner and wife, Brenda, of Easley, Mendi Manley and husband, Richard, of Central, Amy McJunkin and husband, Michael, of Pickens, Michelle Fowler and husband, Buddy, of Greenville, and Ann Hunnicutt of Evans, Georgia; two step-grandsons; Ward Messervy and wife, Jennifer, stationed in Germany and Reid Messervy and wife, Jennifer, of Simpsonville; fifteen great-grandchildren; four special nieces and a nephew. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Cox was predeceased by two brothers, Clyde Hamby and Ray Hamby and a sister, Lucille Hamby Stewart.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Greenlawn Memorial Park with Rev. Dale McCoig officiating.

The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown where the family will receive friends from noon until 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, prior to the service.

Mrs. Cox was a devoted mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who enjoyed spending time with her family. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

The family is at the residence.
