Mrs. Nell Davis Patton, 96, wife of the late James P. Patton, passed away Thursday, August 14, 2014 at her home.

Born in Pickens County July 26, 1918, she was a daughter of the late James Monroe and Mildred McAdams Davis, Mrs. Patton was a 1935 graduate of Dacusville High School where she was valedictorian of her senior class. In 1939 she received her B.S. degree in elementary education from Asheville Teacher's College. She spent more than forty-five years teaching in the Pickens and Greenville County Schools.

Mrs. Patton was a lifetime and oldest living member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church, where she belonged to the Nancy King Sunday School Class and the WMU.

Born to Mrs. Patton were two daughters, Nancy Patton Simmons and Betty Patton Finley. She has four grandchildren, James Finley, Bethany Wilbanks, David Simmons, and Chris Simmons; and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her beloved husband and parents, Mrs. Patton was predeceased by one brother and four sisters. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family.

Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Monday, August 18, 2014 at Mt. Carmel Baptist Church with Rev. Paul Turner officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Escort of Honor will be the Nancy King Sunday School Class.

The family will receive friends from 12:30 PM until 1:45 PM Monday at the church, prior to the service.

The family is at the residence.
