Nettie Poore Owen, 92, widow of Charles Theron Owen, formerly of Central, passed away Saturday, October 1, 2022 in Chester, SC.

Mrs. Owen was born in Anderson County, daughter of the late Grady and Inez Barnett Poore.  She was a graduate of Lebanon High School and attended Anderson College.  She was a retired secretary at Pendleton High School  She was a longtime member and organist for Refuge Baptist Church and then later joined Freedom Fellowship.  She loved family, animals, traveling and gardening.  

Surviving are her daughter, Phyllis White and her husband, Bill of Chester, SC; and granddaughter, Mary Ann Kay and her fiance James Roof and his son, Haven Roof of Rock Hill, SC.

In addition to her husband of 62 years, and her parents, Nettie was predeceased by a daughter, Kennetha Lynn Owen; brothers, Harper Poore, Adger Poore, Jimmy Poore and Horace Poore; and sisters, Margaret Wentsky and Mabel Lee.

Graveside services will be held at 1 PM, Wednesday, October 5, 2022 in Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery in Central with Rev. Mike Johnson officiating.

The family will greet friends following the service in the fellowship hall of the church.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Freedom Fellowship,  1038 Church Street, Central, SC 29630.
