Nicholas "Nick" James Parker, 20, 1326 Wyndham Lakes Drive, Odessa, Florida, a son of Michael Ray and Merlinda Smith Parker, died Sunday, at Greenville Memorial Hospital.
Born August 9, 1988, in Dallas, Texas. Nick was a student at Clemson University. He was a Eagle Scout and a loving son and brother. Nick graduated from Ft. Jackson, SC, and was a distinguished graduate of 2 military training schools. He received the Army Commendation Medal and was a PFC in the US Army Reserve. Nick was very physical and fitness oriented with dreams of making a career in the US Army. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Douglas and Anita Smith.
Surviving in addition to his parents are a brother, Steve Parker of Odessa, Florida, his paternal grandparents, James V. & Alene B. Parker, Jr., of Camden, SC, and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
A memorial service will be held 7:00 PM, Tuesday at Tillman Hall, on the campus of Clemson University, with full military honors. A reception will follow at Clemson United Methodist Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the America Red Cross, PO Box 37243, Washington, DC 20013.
