Nina Koenen Morgan
Easley, SC
Our precious Mom, Nina Morgan, is now in Heaven after living with Alzheimers for 7 years. If you have been fortunate to know a mother who got everything right, a teacher that you adored, a friend you felt blessed to know, and someone you suspected was an angel on Earth, then you have a picture of Mom.
Mom taught us how to appreciate life, to keep a sense of humor, and to see the best in most every situation. This has served us well as we have watched the brilliant Mom that we have always known slip away and has helped us to focus on the positive. We are blessed that Mom kept her gracious and sweet personality, that she smiled often, and for all the times we saw her delightful sense of humor and wisdom shine through.
Mom worked hard all of her life. She taught middle school for 39 years and Sunday school for 22 years. Mom instilled within us a strong work ethic and that when you love what you do, work is fun.
Mom was multi-talented. She was an expert seamstress. Mom made elaborate crazy quilts, clothes, curtains, and even slip-covered furniture. In her fifties she picked up needlepoint and this became one of her favorite hobbies. In college she starred in several plays and we know this flair for the dramatic was one of the many reasons Mom remained so much fun to be around.
She loved animals, especially dogs, and saved a special place in her heart for the Bichons. Mom was the perfect grand-"dog"-mother to Bob, Kenzie, Chloe and Abbie. She did an excellent job spoiling the babies.
To the Skilled Nursing Staff at Brookdale in Easley and the Memory Care Staff at Woodlands at Furman we remain forever appreciative for the beautiful ways you cared for Mom. Thank you for never letting Alzheimers define who Mom was and for celebrating with us so many special moments. Most of all, thank you for making our Mom also "your mom" and making us family.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to: Greenville Alzheimers, 301 University Ridge, Suite 5850, Greenville, SC 29601.
