NORMA MALMGREN


Norma Jean Kruse Malmgren, 100, of Clemson, died peacefully in her sleep at home on September 18, 2016. Born in Sioux Falls, South Dakota, she was the daughter of Henry and Mame Kruse and the widow of Conrad Malmgren, who died in 2005 after 64 years of marriage. She was a member of Fort Hill Presbyterian Church in Clemson. She is survived by her children; John Malmgren, Mark Malmgren and his wife Patricia, and Jeanne Malmgren Melvin and her husband Jim all of Clemson; as well as seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and her nieces Kathy Millar and Ellen Thum.In addition to her husband, Mrs. Malmgren was predeceased by her sister, Lorraine Niedert, her grandson, Jeff Malmgren and her daughter-in-law Sheila Malmgren."


Mrs. Malmgren was a homemaker for most of her life, but also worked as bookkeeper for the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra. Throughout dozens of moves around the country in support of her husband’s career, Mrs. Malmgren took great joy in creating a beautiful home for her family wherever they lived. She was skilled in decorative arts such as needlepoint, gold leaf, decoupage and painted furniture finishes. She also enjoyed gardening, antiquing, and travel. The family extends heartfelt thanks to her devoted caregivers Linda Taylor, Georgia Taylor, Malinda Pruitt, Pat Williams, Patty Randall, Ashtin Scott, and Judy Thackston, as well as the staffs of Oconee Hospice of the Foothills and Providence Hospice. A graveside service will be held in November in Sioux Falls, S.D.
