Norma James Owen, 89, widow of Charles W. Owen, Sr. was welcomed into heaven by loved ones, and her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Friday, July 28, 2023 at the Cottingham Hospice House in Seneca.

Norma was born in Pickens County, the daughter of the late Odie and Betty James James.  She retired as an Administrative Assistant, having worked in the Ceramic Engineering and Wildlife Departments at Clemson University.  She was a former choir member and a longtime member of Refuge Baptist Church.  She was a proud member of the Red Hatters and enjoyed camping, 4 wheeling and traveling with her family.

Norma is survived by; two daughters, Karen Smith and her husband, Scott of Central, Sherri Bailey and her husband Levon of Seneca and a son, Chip Owen and his wife, Kim of Sandy Springs. Also are five grandchildren, Bruce Smith and wife Jennifer of Sandy Springs, Ashley Ray and husband Joey of Sandy Springs, Meredith Owen of Lexington KY, Emily Owen of Atlanta GA, and Will Owen of Atlanta GA and four great grandchildren, Kaleigh Smith, Laney Smith, Taylor Ray, and Anna Ray; a brother, Shot James of Greenville; and a sister, Jeanette Honea of Clemson.

In addition to her husband of 68 years and her mother and father, Norma was predeceased by sisters, Irene McJunkin, Evelyn Crane and Francis Hendricks; and brothers, Floyd James and Olin James.

Funeral services will be 2 PM, Sunday, July 30, 2023, at Refuge Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 1 to 1:50 PM, Sunday prior to the service in the church fellowship hall.
