Norma Creamer Palmer, 96, passed away on June 13, 2019 at Ellenburg Nursing Center in Anderson. She was cared for by the wonderful staff at Ellenburg, and additionally in her last days by the compassionate staff of Hospice of the Upstate in Anderson.
Mrs. Palmer was born in 1922, the daughter of Ernest Claude Creamer and Caro Axmann Creamer in the Centerville Community of Anderson County. She was the widow of Howell W. Palmer who died in 1998. She was pre-deceased by two brothers, William Roy (Joan) Creamer of Mooresville, NC and Joseph Harry (the late Elizabeth) Creamer of Greenville.
Surviving children of Mrs. Palmer are Jim (Kate) Palmer of Clemson, Donna (the late James) Nelson of Anderson and Jane (Ken) Dill of Central. Grandchildren are James (Mandy) of Atlanta; Salley (Dave) Ouellette of Pendleton; Pam (Tom) Burnett of Anderson; Emily (Travis) Holley of Central and Palmer (Sidni) Dill of Charlotte, NC. Greatgrandchildren are: Leo Palmer of Atlanta; Emma Ouellette of Pendleton; Emerson Holley and Everly Holley of Liberty, and Ethan Holley of Greensboro, North Carolina.
Mrs. Palmer was a private piano teacher in her home for 55 years. Countless former students credit her patience and competence for their success in music. She worked for Rice-Farr Music House for several years in Anderson and was the organist at Zion United Methodist Church for many years.
Mrs. Palmer was a loyal long-time member of Pendleton United Methodist Church and participated in many church activities, including Bible study and Ladies' Circles.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 15 at 2:00 PM at the Pendleton United Methodist Church, followed by committal in the church cemetery. Officiating pastors are Rev. Ken Dill and Rev. Mel Arant.
The family will receive friends prior to the service beginning at 1:00 PM in the sanctuary.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that those who wish to do so may contribute to The Hospice of the Upstate (1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621), Pendleton United Methodist Church (217 Broad St., Pendleton, SC 29670), or to Southern Wesleyan University.
