Norman G. Becker

February 24, 1934 — December 6, 2019

Norman George Becker, Jr., 85 years old, passed peacefully on Friday, December 6th, 2019 at home in Cumming, Georgia with his family. He was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Marion Penn.

Mr. Becker is survived by his daughter Cindy Bowlin, her husband Bret, and their children Catherine and Sam of Cumming, Georgia, daughter Cathy Brockelbank, her husband Doug, and their children Brittany and Blaise of Alpharetta, Georgia.

Mr. Becker was born on February 24th, 1934 in Jamestown, New York to Norman George Becker, Sr. and Mary Stevens. As an only child, Mr. Becker found plenty of ways to entertain himself in the small community of Chautauqua, New York. A very active child and young adult, Mr. Becker played every
sport. Mr. Becker attended Colgate University and received his Bachelor of Science degree in Botany in 1956. He met his beautiful and loving wife in Pensacola, Florida, marrying in 1959. He bravely served as a Lieutenant in the Marine Corps from 1956 to 1963, during which time his daughters were born. Mr. Becker worked many years at Milliken and retired at Primerica.

Mr. and Mrs. Becker made a lovely home in Clemson, South Carolina, where Mr. Becker lived for 52 years until his daughters convinced him to move closer to them in Georgia. Mr. Becker was a long time member of Holy Trinity Church in Clemson and a faithful servant of God. The Beckers were known for
having many pets in their home at all times, and all who were lucky to know Mr. Becker knew he loved animals as much as he loved his friends.

The family will celebrate Mr. Becker's life during a memorial service at St. Paul's Church, 328 East Queen Street, Pendleton, SC 29670 on January 4th at 1:00 pm with a reception to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to RIO Ministries, a nonprofit that Mr. Becker joyfully supported. Ministries International, Inc., 2450 Atlanta Highway, #302, Cumming, GA, 30040 or donated through https://www.rioministriesintl.org/give/. Mr. Becker's life can also be honored by adopting a pet from any animal shelter.
