On December 24, 2012 the greatest man alive departed this world at the Rainey Hospice House in Anderson to be with his heavenly Father and reunite with the love of his life, Laura Mae.


Norman was a member of Bishop Branch Baptist Church in Central. He was a long time member of Troop 229 Hunting Club in Troy, SC, where he took his last hunting trip in November of this year. He was a wonderful father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He always saw the good in everyone and loved his family unconditionally.


Norman was preceeded in death by his wife, Laura Mae Smith Traynum; his parents, Walter Rufus and Mattie Lucille Trynum; brothers, Wallace, Rufus and Carl Traynum; sisters, Sarah Whitlock, Janet Barnes and Sybil Porter.


Norman is survived by one brother, Martin Traynum; children, Louie Traynum (Kay), Lucille Land (Jim), Carol Cartee (John), Ray and Stanley Traynum; grandchildren who thought he hung the moon, Robby Cartee, Leigh Cartee Humprhies (Jason), Josh Traynum (Sherry), Nicole Traynum Ladd (Jeremy), Lacy Land, Amber Land Cox (Justin) and Bryan Crowe; his pride and joy great-grandchildren, Gracie, Ella and Hayden Traynum, Emily and Abby Cartee, Anna Blair Ladd, and one on the way Haleigh Cox.


The family will receive friends from 11 AM to 12;45 PM, Thursday in the fellowship hall of Bishop Branch Baptist Church.


Graveside services will be 1 PM Thursday in the church cemetery.


Pallbearers will be Michael Austin, Greg Austin, Wally Massey, Tony Rogers, Larry Scoggins and L.E. Hair all members of Troop 229 Hunting Club.


In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Hospice of the Upstate, 1835 Rogers Road, Anderson, SC 29621.


The family is at the home.
