Norman Vincent Eric Ulvi, 59, of Washington, DC, passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024.
Born in Okinawa, Japan, he was a son of the late Gordon Earland Frederick and Cecelia Lorraine Ulvi. Norman had a remarkable career with the US Navy spanning from 1982 to 2009, obtaining the rank of E9 Master Chief. He served with the Submarine Force. Norman displayed unwavering dedication, exemplary leadership, and a profound commitment to serving his country. His fellow servicemen regarded him not only as a colleague but as a mentor and a friend. Norman's contributions to the Navy will forever be remembered with honor and gratitude. Beyond his military service, Norman was known for his passion for Corvettes and drag racing. The thrill of speed and the roar of powerful engines brought him immense joy and excitement. His love for these pursuits reflected his adventurous spirit. Among his many loves was Hawaii, a place that held a special spot in Norman's heart. The beauty of the islands captivated him, offering a serene escape from the demands of his profession. Whether it was the sandy beaches or the lush landscapes.
Norman is survived by his five siblings, Mathew Nathan Scott Ulvi, James Gordon Earland Ulvi, Brenda Marie Ulvi Bishop (Randy), Jeffrey Arthur Lee Ulvi (Ginny), and Jarrod Bruce Levi Ulvi; five nieces and nephews, Jessica Paige Ulvi, Amanda Brooke Ulvi, Tiffany Thomas (Eric), Isaac Gordon Lawrence Bishop (Mary- Morgan), and Noah George Hayden Bishop (Emily); along with numerous great- nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Graveside services with full military honors will be held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, May 30, 2024, in Robinson Memorial Gardens.
