O.S. Galloway, Jr.

Oscar S. "Junior" Galloway, 92, of 722 Rice Road, went home on Sunday, March 16, 2008, at the Hospice House of Anderson, and is now in the presence of his Lord and Savior whom he served faithfully.
Born January 7, 1916, he was a son of the late Oscar S. and Lou Annie Bryant Galloway, Sr. A lihe-long resident of Pickens County, he was a former owner of Liberty Memorial Gardens in Liberty, SC. After retirement, he was affiliated with Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens and operated Santa's Forest Christmas Tree Farm in Pickens for several years.
Mr. Galloway was a faithful member of United Wesleyan Church for over seventy-two years where he was very active in all aspects of the church. He served on the Administrative Board of the church, Building Committee, Church Treasurer, Sunday Schoool Superintendent, teacher of the Men's Bible Class and was a member of the Sanctuary Choir. He also served as a delegate to the S.C. Wesleyan Conference on many occasions and was an ardent supporter of the Table Rock Wesleyan Camp from its inception. Recently he was involved in organizing an Out-Reach program for the church as he always had a desire to share the Word of God.
Loved dearly by his family and friends, Mr. Galloway will be remembered as an humble and unselfish man who always enjoyed helping others. He, along with his wife, was a volunteer with Meals-On-Wheels for seventeen years and was recognized by the organization for his dedication to the program.
Surviving are his loving and faithful wife of seventy-one years, Eunice Grant Galloway of the home; a daughter and son-in-law, Amelia and Woody Sexton of Central; four sons and daughters-in-law, Mike and Linda Galloway and Jeff and Dusti Galloway, all of Easley, Ben and Louise Galloway and Sam and Clinton Galloway, all of Irmo; twelve grandchildren and in-laws, Greer Galloway, Grant and Christy Galloway, Tara Ann and Hal Garrett, Ashley and Nathan Young, Dewayne and Connie Sexton, Bennett and Crystal Galloway, Clint and Lynn Galloway, Murray and Brandon Cromer, LuAnn and Jay Edens, Rebecca and Josh Wallace, and Chandler and Kerrigan Galloway; and twenty-two great-grandchildren. He is also survived by six sisters, Christine Cochran, Eunice Bagwell, Wylene and Kendall King, Eulalia and Homer Gause, Dillie and Melvin Ervingham, and Annas Houston; and a sister-in-law, Ruth Ellen Galloway. In addition to his parents, Mr. Galloway was predeceased by a great-grandchild, Clint Garrett, two brothers, Winford "Wint" Galloway and Dewey Galloway, and by a sister, Bernice Mosely.
A celebration of his life will be at 3:00 p.m. Wednesday at United Wesleyan Church with Rev. Tim Jones, Rev. Lawrence Keever, Rev. Donnie Massingill and Rev. Rick Gilbert officiating. Entombment will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park and Gardens.
Pallbearers will be sons and grandsons. Honorary escort will be the men of United Wesleyan Church.
The body is at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown where the family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday, and will be placed in the church at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday.
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to Dr. David Chang, Dr. Brad Simpson, Dr. Brant Mayher and Dr. Kathy Christman for their wonderful care and compassion during Mr. Galloway's illness. We would also like to thank all the nurses and staff of Hospice of the Upstate who so wonderfully cared for him.
