Obera McGee Reed, 93, of Easley, wife of the late Alex R. Reed, went home peacefully to be with her heavenly father Monday, April 6, 2015.
Obera was born in Elberton, GA May 21, 1922 and was the eldest daughter of the late Dillard Elzie McGee and Minnie Lee Smith McGee. She graduated from Furman University and was a retired school teacher with the Greenville County School System. Obera was a member of Bethesda United Methodist Church and the Fellowship Sunday School Class. She loved the Lord and her church family. Aunt Bera always had a positive outlook on life and loved helping and doing for her family and friends. She was loved dearly by her family and will be greatly missed by her family and all who had the pleasure to know her.
She is survived by her siblings, Dillard E. McGee, Jr. (Juanita), Hilda McGee Dragos, and Billy E. McGee (Julia); nieces, Nancy McGee Land and Rebecca McGee Hood(David) and nephew Michael E. McGee; great-nephews, Gregg Land (Kellie), Jonathan Hood, Justin Hood and Colton McGee; great-niece, Michelle McGee Rogers (Reed); great-great niece, Madison Knye and great-great nephew, Kaleb David Hood.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was predeceased by a great-nephew Jason McGee.
Funeral services will be conducted at 3:00 PM Thursday, April 9, 2015 in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Powdersville Road. Burial will follow in Bethesda United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 1:30 PM until 2:45 PM Thursday prior to the service at the funeral home.
The family would like to thank all of Aunt Bera's relatives and friends for their prayers, visits, cards and all other expressions of love, as well as to Dr. Griffith, his staff, and nurses of McCall Hospice House.
