Rev. Olen J. Rackley

Rev. Olen Javie Rackley, 81, of 323 Cedar Rock Church Road, went home to be with the Lord, Sunday, September 23, 2007, at Hospice of the Upstate.
Born in Pickens County, a son of the late Hugh Davis and Clara Cox Rackley, Rev. Rackley retired from the Arial Plant of Alice Manufacturing Company and was a faithful member of Roanoke Baptist Church in Liberty where he served as Sunday School Superintendent, deacon and teacher. He had been a minister for nursng homes and also preached on WTBI and WELP Radio Stations. Re. Rackley was a veteran of World War II having served with the US Navy.
Surviving is his wife of sixty-one years, Helen Waldrop Rackley of Easley; a special niece, Darlene Fisher and her family, Diamond and Frankie who were his caregivers and whom he loved dearly. Also surviving are a great-niece, Charlene Barrett and a great-nephew, Krizjian Barrett; a, sister-in-law, Cecile Waldrop, and a close friend, Veda Ellenburg.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rackley was predeceased by a daughter, Linda Rackley Powell, a grandson, Jerry Wayne Powell, and by three brothers and two sisters.
Private funeral services will be at noon Monday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Jack Shook officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation for family and close friends will be from 11:00 a.m. until noon Monday at the funeral home, prior to the service.
The family would like to express their heartfelt appreciatioin to the staff of Hospice of the Upstate for their loving care of Rev. Rackley.
