Olon H. Ferguson

Olon Henry Ferguson died on October 25, 2008 at age 82 at the Oakmont West Nursing Center in Greenville, SC.
Olon was born in San Diego, CA, raised in Porterville, CA and was a veteran of World War II, having served in the Asia Pacific Theater before his discharge from the US Navy. After the war he was employed with the US Forest Service and the CIA. He came to Pendleton and started Ferguson Upholstery and then became a Letter Carrier with the US Postal Service in Pendleton where he retired.
He was a member of St. Andrews Catholic Church, Clemson, SC and was active in the Knights of Columbus as Charter Memberrising to the level of 4th Degree - Life Member. Olon was also an accomplished woodcarver.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Pike Ferguson; children - Alan Corbett Ferguson (Lara) of Atlanta, GAMark Pike Ferguson (Karen) of Greenville, SC; grandchildren - Katherine Marie Ferguson of Greenville, Corbett Lane Ferguson, Austin Pike Ferguson, Christian Reese Ferguson of Atlanta, Theresa Ann Ferguson of Greenville, step-grandson - Aaron Michael Clay - US Air Force - Japan; and half-brother Richard Pirkle of Barnhart, Missouri.
Preceded in death by his children - George Henry Ferguson, Kathleen Sue Ferguson, James Thomas Ferguson; grandchild - Brian Alan Ferguson; and sister Alma Jo Torigian.
Funeral services will be 10 AM Tuesday in the chapel of St. Andrew Catholic Church in Clemson. Burial with Military Honors will follow in Refuge Baptist Church Cemetery.
Visitation will be Monday night from 6:00 until 8:00 PM at Duckett-Robinson Funeral Home.
