Opal C. Chastain

Opal Virginia Crowe Chastain, of 1022 Highland Road, departed this world to a better place at 4:30 a.m. Friday, January 22, 2010, at Baptist Easley Hospital. After a long illness she suddenly took a turn for the worse Thursday night and gave up the fight.
Born in Pickens County, a daughter of the late Thomas Wade and Carrie Kay Crowe, Mrs. Chastain was a homemaker and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are her husband, W. Charles Chastain of the home; two daughters, Linda Bridges (Anthony) and Susan Sheridan (Andy), all of Easley; a brother, Homer Crowe (Mary) of Easley, three sisters, Victoria Smith (Dan) of Liberty, Marjorie Yates of Hendersonville, NC, and Ovaline Medlin of Easley; two grandsons, Josh Bridges (Paula) and Matthew Bridges (Brittany), all of Easley; a granddaughter, Ashley Sheridan of Easley; and three great-grandchildren, Cody, Chloe and Emily, all of Easley. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Chastain was predeceased by five brothers, Roy, J.B., Wade, Carl and Billy Crowe,and by four sisters, Inez Rampey, Lois Nealy, Ethel Hines and Flora Anderson.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown with Rev. Fred Davis and Rev. Argyle Paddock officiating. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
Visitation will be from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.
