Oscar Stanley Adkins, 63, of 103 Boxwood Ln., Easley, passed away, Thursday, January 20, 2011, at his home.
Born in Wardell, VA., on October 31, 1947, he was the son of the late Walter Adkins and Beulah Vincell Adkins. He graduated from Rutledge College and was a retired welder for GE with 30 years of service. He loved his family and was passionate about playing golf. Mr. Adkins was a veteran of the Vietnam War having served with the US Marines.
Surviving are his sons, Gary Prater and wife, Tammy, of Virginia, Lundy Prater and wife, Carolyn, of Virginia; daughters, Robin Prater of Easley and Amy Adkins of Easley; brothers, Fred Adkins of Virginia, James Adkins of Spartanburg; sisters, Norma Puckett of Woodruff, Debbie Tabor of Virginia; and 4 grandchildren, Heather Woody, Ashley Prater, Canaan Prater, and Tyde Prater. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his wife, Mildred Brown Adkins and a son, Paul Prater.
Funeral services will be conducted at 2:00 PM Sunday, January 23, 2011, at the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial, with military honors, will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park.
The family will receive friends 6:00 until 8:00 PM Saturday, at Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made to the charity of choice.
