Patricia "Pat" Pannell

Patricia "Pat" Ausburn Pannell left this world of pain and sorrow on December 22, 2020 to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and her many family members and friends. Pat was born on August 18, 1948 and was a 1966 graduate of Wren High School. She spent some time working as a 'Candy Striper' at the old St. Francis Hospital. After graduation, she worked as a 'Candy Striper' at the old Greenville General Hospital in the Radiology Department. Later, she spent one semester at North Greenville Junior College. Before her health declined, Pat loved working with young girls in the "Girls in Action" (GAs) program at her home church, Siloam Baptist Church, and once served as the director of GAs for four years. She spent some time at Rock Springs Baptist Church, before moving back to her home church.
Early in her career, she worked for Martin Printing Company. She also worked as a substitute teacher in the Anderson County School District and for Manpower Job Placements. Finally, she obtained a degree in the medical field as a 'Unit Secretary/Monitor Technician'. This led to a job with the Greenville Hospital System where she worked for eighteen years, where she was once named 'Employee of the Month'. She worked for many years with severe pain in her back. Later, on the advice of her doctor, she retired in 2004.
Pat is survived by her husband of 49 years, Ralph A. "Tony" Pannell of Easley, SC; her son Todd Anthony Pannell of Greenville, SC; a brother-in-law, Dr. Tim Pannell (Tammy) of Sumter, SC; along with many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents, Vance H. Ausburn and Florence Ward Ausburn and a sister, Hazel E. Phillips Penick.
Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, December 29, 2020 at 1:00 PM in the Robinson Funeral Home- Powdersville Road Chapel. Casual dress is suggested for those attending. Due to Covid-19, there is a limit of 50 people for the service. Scroll to the video player below to view the service. Burial will follow in Siloam Baptist Church Cemetery, where her parents and many family members are buried.
The service will be led by her cousin, Rev. Ted James of Townville Baptist Church and life-long friend and retired missionary Mr. Jack Cooper.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude's Children's Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or to the charity of one's choice.
