Patricia Greer Cowden, widow of William Stewart Cowden, passed away, May 25, 2017, at Oconee Medical Center. She was a long time resident of Clemson Downs. She was the daughter of Mary White Miller and Julian Bryan Greer. She was born in Calhoun County, Alabama, and lived most of her life in Atlanta, GA. While living in Atlanta, Pat, as she was known, worked for a judge in the Fulton County Superior Court. She also spent many hours volunteering for the Fox Theater.
Upon moving to Clemson, Pat was a member of Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, the Andrew Pickens Chapter of the DAR and the Clemson Down volunteer group. She loved to travel, was an avid reader and student of etymology.
She is survived by her two sons, William Stewart Cowden, Jr (Betty) and Richard Bryan Cowden (Charlotte); five grandchildren, Coleman Cowden Efird (Tim), Greer Cowden Hostetter (Ross), Ashley Cowden Fisk (Paul), William Stewart Cowden, III (Quinerly), and Richard Bryan Cowden, Jr (Tiffany); and nine great grandchildren, Elizabeth Efird, David Efird, Mary Stewart Efird, Myers Hostetter, Spencer Hostetter, Ellison Hostetter, Margaret Blount Cowden, Elizabeth Cowden, and Marett Fisk.
A memorial service will be held at the Corley Activity Center at Clemson Downs on June 23, 2017, at 11am. Interment will be private.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Fort Hill Presbyterian Church, 101 Edgewood Avenue, Clemson, SC 29631.
