Patricia Corbin Haskell-Robinson

Patricia Corbin Haskell-Robinson of Greenville, South Carolina, wife of the late James Harold Robinson, died June 12, 2025. She had a very full, eventful and consequential life.

Born in New Haven, Connecticut, she was the daughter of the late Sarah Cruikshank Corbin from Greenville, South Carolina, and Harrison Corbin from New Haven Connecticut. She graduated from Prospect Hill School for girls in New Haven, and attended Hollins College (now Hollins University) in Roanoke, Virginia.

She helped found and brokered the Robinson Company for 25 years and was the first International Property Specialist in South Carolina. She served as president of the Greenville Association of Realtors, the Multiple Listing Service, on the board of the South Carolina Association of Realtors, and served on the board of the Greenville County Economic Development Corporation from the time the rail line, now known as the Swamp Rabbit, was purchased by the Greenville Economic Development Corporation in 1999. She was the first woman to serve as Chairman of the Greenville Chamber of Commerce and Christ Church Episcopal School Board where she was a member of the Board of Visitors. She served as President of the Junior League of Greenville, Inc., Greenville Sister Cities, Metropolitan Arts Council, Professional Women’s Forum, Greenville Housing Futures, the Carillon, and the Quadrille. Her first career was in television at WFBC (now WYFF), beginning with Monty’s Rascals which was for children, then Telescope at noon, featuring news, weather, and interviews, and Sunday at Home with interviews and local talent.

Mrs. Robinson served two terms on the Greenville City Council and was Mayor Pro Tempore and Acting Mayor. She served on the board of United Carolina Bank which merged with BB&T. She was a trustee of the Greenville Hospital System and on the board of the Greenville Hospital Foundation. She helped initiate the first International Baccalaureate Program in the Greenville County Schools.

Mrs. Robinson was a member of the General Society of Mayflower Descendants, The National Society of the Daughters of the American Revolution, National Society of the Colonial Dames of America, The Quadrille, The Carillon, and the Junior League of Greenville, Inc. She was a communicant of Christ Church Episcopal and past chairman of the Altar Guild, and sewing committee, making four sets of eucharistic silk brocade vestments.

She is survived by two sons, Edwin Calhoun Haskell, III (Catherine Daniel Haskell) of Spartanburg, South Carolina, and Harrison Corbin Haskell (Gena Farr Haskell) of Greenville, South Carolina; a step-daughter, Elaine Robinson Copenhaver (David Nathan Copenhaver) of Tupelo, Mississippi; five grandchildren, Edwin Calhoun Haskell, IV, Daniel Caldwell Haskell (Nora De Witt-Hoeger Haskell), Riley Haskell Bignon (Ryan Nicholas Bignon), Langdon Haskell Morris (Jonathan Eugene Morris), and James Nathan Copenhaver (Leslie Archuleta Copenhaver); 10 great-grandchildren; two favorite cousins, Mary Nolley Cruikshank Sanchelli of Greenville, South Carolina, and Robin Roberson Smelzer (Peter) of Greensboro, North Carolina; as well as numerous other cousins.

In addition to her parents and husbands, James Harold Robinson and Edwin Calhoun Haskell, Jr., she is preceded in death by her brother, Lieutenant Neal Harrison Corbin, USAF; her aunt, Ray Cruikshank Heylmun; and first cousin, Jane Heylmun Roberson.

A memorial service will be held at Christ Church Episcopal at 3:00 PM on Wednesday, June 18, 2025. A reception will follow the service at the Poinsett Club.
