Paul James Blackston, 95, of Hamilton Street, husband of the late Lydia Anderson Blackston, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 surrounded by his family.

Born in Pickens County, a son of the late John Mack and Bettie Cater Blackston, Mr. Blackston retired from Life of Georgia Insurance Company after twenty-two years of service. He was a member of Calvary Hill Baptist Church where he served as a deacon and treasurer of the Men's Bible Class.

Surviving are two sons, Louis H. Blackston (Maria) of Orlando, FL, and Carl H. Blackston (Linda) of Easley; seven grandchildren, Chris Clark (Dave), Cindy Whittemore (David), Cheryl Little (Sam), Carla Romero (Johnatan), Rachel Little (Bill), Selena Blackston and Jeffrey Blackston, and seven great-grandchildren, Noah and Chloe Clark, Matthew Whittemore, Stone and Zoleigh Little and Angelica Roach and Alex Mitchem. In addition to his wife and parents, Mr. Blackston was predeceased by a son, Melvin D. Blackstone, by a brother, Roscoe Blackston and three sisters, Essie Ross, Annie Mae Nix and Louise Roach.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM Wednesday in the chapel of Robinson Funeral Home-Downtown. Burial will follow in Hillcrest Memorial Park.

Seniors of Calvary Hill Baptist Church will serve as Escort of Honor.

Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 PM Tuesday at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 950 West Faris Road, Greenville, SC 29605 or to the charity of one's choice.

The family is at the home of Carl and Linda Blackston, Easley, SC.
