Paul W. Eschinger, Jr. 82, loving husband of Gerry Eschinger, passed away on January 16th from Covid pneumonia. He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years and 4 daughters, Wendy Gibbs (Darrell), Cindy Ramey (Bryan), Kelly Clark (Mike), and Crystal Eschinger.
Also surviving are 7 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren, and 2 sisters: Arlene Matthai (Bill) of Edgewater, MD and Shirley Kalthoff of Taiwan. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul W. and Hazel B. Eschinger of Edgewater, MD.
Paul trusted Jesus as his Savior at 8 years old and has loved the Lord and been a fervent witness for the Lord. At 9 years old he asked his Dad if he could go to work with him at Paul's Auto Shop, his dad said no. Determined to do something, he set up a stand and put up a sign that said "Paul's Fix It Shop". His first job was putting a chain on a bicycle and made 25 cents which started him on his road to success in fixing anything that needed repairs. The grandkids learned from Papa that he could fix anything except a broken heart, but that he knew Someone that could.
Paul started 4 American Transmission shops - 2 in Maryland and 2 in South Carolina. He was a member of Tabernacle Baptist Church for many years and served in whatever area he was needed. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. Paul will be remembered for his love for the Lord, his family, and his church. He will be greatly missed.
