Paul M. Fontaine, 93, of Easley, SC, husband of Mary Gallo Fontaine, passed away Friday, November 4, 2011 at McCall House of Open Arms Hospice, after being a resident of the Haven in Greenville, SC for six months.

Born in April of 1918 in Gardner, Massachusetts, Mr. Fontaine was a son of the late Donat and Marie DeRocher Fontaine, and was a longtime resident of Connecticut and Florida. He was a graduate of the The Worcester Tech Institute, class of 1936, in Manufacturing Engineer. Paul retired from Avco Lycoming Textron of Stratford, Connecticut in 1987.

Mr. Fontaine was an avid golfer and a longtime member of of the Bronson Country Club in Shelton, Connecticut and the Fox Fire Country Club in Naples, Florida. He had a love for traveling and discovering new places. He was an amazing husband and father that was loved and will be missed by many.


In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Andrea Fontaine of High Point, NC and Joanne Basile, of Naugatuck, CT; his four sons, Robert Fontaine of Bonney Lake, Washington, Steve Fontaine of Naples, FL, John Fontaine, of Ft. Worth, Texas, Thomas Fontaine of High Point, NC, and by his step-son, Patrick Gallo of Liberty, S.C. Mr. Fontaine has seventeen grandchildren; twenty-seven great-grandchildren; five great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. Additionally, Mr. Fontaine is survived by his sister, Annette Peabody and brother, Norman Fontaine, both of St. Louis, MO. Mr. Fontaine was predeceased by his daughter, Suzanne Hanlon, of Naples, Florida and his brothers, Ronald, Jerry and George Fontaine.

A Memorial Service will be held at St. Luke's Catholic Church, 4408 Highway 86, Easley, SC 29642 on Saturday, November 12, 2011, at 11:00 A.M.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimers Association, 4124 Clemson Blvd., Anderson, SC 29621.
